1 What is this
The PCs you use live separate lives. Photos on this one, the file you were working on over there, and neither machine knows the other exists. IdleLink lays a roadbetween them.
Is this a NAS?
A NAS means buying a new box and keeping your files on it. IdleLink makes the PCs you already ownstorage for each other. There is nothing to buy.
Is this a cloud drive?
A cloud drive keeps your files on someone else’s serverand bills you every month. With IdleLink they move between your own PCsonly. There is no upload destination.
Is this remote desktop?
Remote desktop connects you to one distant machine. IdleLink groups all of your PCs together, and viewing a screen is one of the things that group can do.
This fits you if

2 What you can do
All on one screen. Open the cards you want to know more about.
Put the office PC’s screen on your laptop at home and use its mouse and keyboard as if you were sitting there. Text you copy pastes across. Files move by opening the other PC’s folder in the file explorer.
The old PC you stopped using because it was slow still has a large disk. Pool that free space and let backups run on their own, spread across several machines.
Switch the connection mode to “no internet” and only the PCs on the same router talk to each other. One machine becomes the hub and the rest attach to it, so nothing goes out to the internet at all.
Keeps working through an outage, and on a network with no way out. Built for the factory floor and the lab, where internet is not an option.

The three places never mix. A folder opened to a guest is not visible to Our PCs, and someone linked as Our PCs never lands inside My PCs.

Even with one PC
What needs a second PC is remote control · opening another PC’s files · spread backups · messaging · offloading. Everything else runs on one machine — backup just needs somewhere to put it(an external drive or another drive on the same PC).

3 How to start
You do not need to know your way around a computer. The first two steps are all it takes; the third is only for when you add another PC.

Less to it than you expected

4 Is it safe
This is a powerful tool — it opens your PC remotely and moves your files. So “what is yours stays on your machines” was the default from the start.
Photos, screens and messages — the contents are not stored on our servers. They travel between your machines, and when they do pass through a relay they are encrypted in transit and nothing accumulates on the server. If encryption fails, the transfer is refused outright— there is no path where it goes out in the clear by mistake.
Its real job is carrying the signal that lets your PCs find each other. For people whose networks refuse a direct connection, we relay a certain amount for free. Even then the files are encrypted, so not even we can open them, and remote-control video does not go through our servers at all — we pass the signal, the picture goes straight between the PCs.
For anyone to see your screen you have to approve it at that moment (and with a different account, a 6-digit PIN each time you connect), and a red banner stays on your screen for as long as it runs. There is no back door.
Sign in over the internet onceand after that, even in a factory or lab with no connection, offline modekeeps the PCs on one router talking.
If that still worries you, run it in offline mode, where our relay cannot be involved at all. Nothing leaves the network.
One thing stated plainly — the contentsof files, screens and messages are not stored on our servers, but a minimum — signing in, which of your devices are online — is processed so the service can run.
